I was recently asked a very powerful question. “What would you do, if you knew you could NOT fail?”
My immediate response, without thinking at all, really, was that I would purchase some property (it would need to have a house) and open a cat rescue. I know that is something my daughter and I talk about often. The only thing stopping us is the funds to make it so.
It has been a few days, and I have had that question swirling about in my head.
There are so many other things that I would love to do, if I knew I could not fail.
I would start a community garden here in my small town. Anyone who needs food would come and help plant and water and weed and all that. And then at harvest time, they get the rewards of their work. I would involve our local schools. Kids should be taught how to grow food. It is kind of an important thing. I would teach other things as well, like how to harvest drinking water, how to identify edible plants… how to plant a garden to help sustain butterflies and bees… sooo many things…
I would also organize a group of our youth and a group of our elderly, and get them together regularly. I honestly believe I wouldn’t have to do much. I just want the two extremes to interact. The elderly have so much they can give, and our youth lack SO MUCH.. to watch the bonds that would form would be like chicken soup for a sick soul….
Again, for the elderly, whether they are home, in nursing homes.. wherever, I would love to create some sort of foundation where volunteers take cats and dogs (and other animals) around to visit with them. Our elderly are so often alone and neglected and it just breaks my soul. And the animals.. oh.. those poor animals. People discard them like trash. I hate it. How wonderful would it be to bring some joy to both lonely people AND lonely animals. In the end, all any of us seek, is love… the animals included.
So, while it is not anything to write home about, those are the things I would like to do.
And since I cannot do those things, I just do what I can. I help where I can, when I can.
There is one other thing I would love to do, and fear of failure stops me. I would love to have bees. However, there is a bit more than fear of failure in it for me…. its an actual fear of the bees themselves! LOL Yes. I hate bugs and flying things and bees are no exception.
I am one of those ridiculous people you will see flailing and shrieking and carrying on because there is a bee floating around me. *eyeroll*
I am not proud of this. But, I love honey, and I realize how important bees are, so I would love to find a way around my issues, so maybe one day I can have some hives!
So, what would YOU do, if you knew you could NOT fail??
