    Question 17

Personal History Question 17 is, “Write about your grandparents.” My maternal and paternal grandparents could not have been any more different! My mom’s parents were older. They were divorced. And they could not be in the same room together. So, one year my Gram would come to Thanksgiving, and we would bring my Grandpa a plate. The next year it was the opposite. My Gram always went to our Christmas Eve shindigs, and we would see my Grandpa on Christmas Day. I remember the one time she came to our house when my Grandpa was there, sitting at the kitchen table. She had something she REALLY wanted to tell my…

    Questions 16

Personal History Question 16 is, “What world events were significant to you as a child? Hm. The few that stick out are Elvis dying, John Lennon’s assassination, and I remember something about a young American girl writing a letter to a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, in 1982, I think. She got tons of attention. I remember being mad about it because before she did that, I had told my parents that I was going to write a letter to President Reagan to plead with him to stop this scary nonsense. LOL I remember hearing about AIDS, and the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in FL was hit…

    Question 14 and 15

Personal History Questions 14, I pretty much answered this in Question 13. S, I will just go on to Question 15, “What was high school like for you?” It was both great and awful at the same time. I had a bully. Her and her minions did their best to make my life awful. And they succeeded for awhile. My Freshman year was filled with new friendships, new adventures, and being severely bullied. It was such a mix of emotions. I had a paper route and then got a job at a local coffee shop. The rest of my high school years went well. I did well in school, except…

    Question 13

Personal History Question 13 is, “What did a typical day look like as a child?” I realize that I have gotten rather long winded on my other posts and kept on about it well after childhood. I will try to limit the answers to childhood only. A typical day for me was getting up and getting ready for school. I was not much of a breakfast person, so I would usually fight my mom on it. If she had gone on to make something for me, I would eat it though. Didn’t want her going through all that for me not to eat! I would go to school, then come…

    Question 12

Personal History Question 12 is, “Did you travel as a child? What was your favorite place to visit?” Did we travel? Only to visit family. We took mini vacations camping in the summer, but any other time we traveled, it was to Baltimore or WV to visit family. And I loved every second of it. I loved my WV family so very much. Even as a teen/young adult, any time I got some vacation time, I was in my car and headed to Rowlesburg. I loved my time with my family. I loved Rowlesburg. Some of my best memories revolve around my time there. I miss my Nan and Pop…

    Question 11

Personal History Question 11 is, “Who were your friends as a child?” The first people I remember playing with is Joey and Donna. I still speak to Donna these days, just not very often. Joey was killed in an accident many years ago. 🙁 There was the gal who lived behind us, next to Donna. Her name was Blanche. Then there was Jen, and another Jen and her sister Debbie. Although I do not know that I would call them ‘friends’, as they were older than me and saw me as an annoyance. lol. Then there was Keri and Tara. I had a lot of fun with them. I still…

    Question 10

Personal History Question 10 is, “What was your favorite place as a child?” As I had mentioned in the previous question, I am happiest when outside. Does not matter if it is at the river, the beach, or my backyard. Even as a really young child, I loved playing outside. Some times it was making mud pies, some times it was digging in the dirt searching for cool rocks. Some times, it was just lying in the grass watching the clouds go by. As a teen, my favorite spot was the park that was near my home. It is where I hung out with my friends. We all grew up…

  • Friday Five,  Hey. Hi. Hello.

    Friday Five!

How good are you at wrapping gifts? When are you likely to begin your Christmas shopping this year? How do you feel about candy canes? Have you been naughty or nice this year? In what way was today most December-like? I do okay at wrapping gifts. I rather enjoy the process. I have offered to wrap gifts for others, for a small fee, but no one ever takes me up on it. I am definitely getting started on some Christmas gifts here in the next couple weeks! I make things for people, in addition to purchasing gifts. I want to get started on the home made stuff early! Eh. They…

    Question 9

Personal History Question 9, “What was your favorite activity as a child?” Hm. Hard to say, as I don’t recall ever really having any favorite thing. I mean, I loved being outside, riding my bike, or swimming at the beach or in the river, depending on where I was living at the time. As a young child, I LOVED going to feed the ducks with my Dad. Now, I read that bread is bad for them and I feel awful. But, we didn’t know! I used to love to color. Well, I still do, actually. I used to love making mud pies and playing in the dirt and looking for…

    Question 8

Personal History Question 8, “What was your childhood bedroom like?” Well, again, I lived in many different places. We never did anything fancy for my bedroom. Like, I didn’t have a themed room or anything like that. Just a plain ol’ bedroom with my bed, dresser, night stand, and that was it really. Once I was a teen, my aunt and uncle gave me a wooden desk that they had had. I THINK my uncle made it. It was gorgeous. I regret getting rid of it. I had a tv and fish tanks and a papasan chair. I had a waterbed for a good long while, then switched to a…
