    Question 27

Personal History Question 27 is, “Write about your most memorable birthday.” Hm. I guess my 13th, and my 40th are the ones that really stick out. My 18th was cool too, as it was a combo birthday/graduation party. For my 13th, my mom told me that my gift was big, but small. It drove me mad for days. It was a hundred dollar bill. With that, I bought like 6 new outfits for the following school year. My 18th was just a huge party out on the deck with all of my best people from that time. And my 40th… my friend Holly arranged to fly my mom up from…

    Question 26

Personal History Question 26 is, “What was your favorite food as a child?” Hm. Tough one. My favorite foods depend on my mood. Pizza or lasagna was up there when I was real little. And French fries and tater tots. As a teen, my dad’s chili, and my mom’s spaghetti. My dad used to make this one meal every now and then.. it was kielbasa, potatoes, onions, peppers, baby corn, carrots and some times broccoli. He would toss it in EVOO, season it with salt and pepper and some garlic and onion powder and roast it in the oven. I can remember walking up onto the deck on a cold…

    Question 25

Personal History Question 25 is, “Who taught you how to drive?” That was all my dad. My mom was too nervous. It really did not take too long. I remember he took me to a parking lot somewhere near the house. He made me practice all the usual stuff, especially a 3 point turn. After the 3rd or 4th time, he let me drive home. He would let me drive to the bus stop, and to the store (with him in the car of course, and I did have my permit) and such. I failed my license the first time because my tire rubbed the curb when I parked. I…

    Friday Five!

Found over at Friday 5! When did you most recently experience the beginning of a beautiful friendship? For whom did you last stick your neck out? What matters more to you, and what matters less as time goes by? What have you been shocked-shocked!-to learn this week? Who’s looking at you, kid? It has been awhile. I really thought that I had struck up a friendship with someone at work. But, no. She is a snake, apparently. I used to go to bat for my boss a lot. Now that she has let me go and ceased talking to me, I won’t do that anymore. My peace of mind matters…

    Question 24

Personal History Question 24 is, “Did you move as a child?” Oh yes. A lot. It sucked at the time. Looking back, however, I see that it brought wonderful opportunities and afforded me some wonderful friendships that I have still to this day. I was little the first time we moved. It was new and exciting. Then the second time we moved, I was going to get to be near my dad’s family. I was so happy! And it was wonderful! Then we moved to a small town in PA where I knew no one and I wanted to hate it, but couldn’t. I loved the place. School was a…

    FRIDAY FIVE!

ON SATURDAY. Found over at Friday 5! How did you spend this 21st night of September? When did you last hear bells ringing (real bells, not something electronic)? What have you done in recent months to chase the clouds away for someone else? What are some good songs sung in falsetto? Of earth, wind, and fire, which is likeliest to have a positive influence on your weekend? I made dinner, and then the hubby and I settled in to watch Survivor and The Amazing Race. Survivor premiered just after we started dating, and we have never missed it! It is our ‘thing” … 🙂 Hm. I really cannot recall the…

    Question 23

Personal Question 23 is, “Who was your favorite teacher as a child?” I had 3 that come to mind. One was my 2nd grade teacher from Henry T. Wing Elementary School in Sandwich, MA. Her name is Ms. Vagenas. She was awesome. I even kept in touch with her for a year or two after we moved away. My 3rd grade teacher from Rowlesburg School, Ms. Conklin, was another. That woman was a ray of sunshine, and she made going to school a pleasure. Then, in my middle and high school years there were LOTS that I loved. But, my favorite remains Mrs. MacDonald from Dartmouth High School. She put…

    Question 22

Personal History Question 22 is, “What was your favorite subject in school?” Science. I love anything to do with science. And History. I had some really great teachers for those classes, and that helped further the love of the subject, for sure.

    QUESTION 21

Personal History Question 21 is, “Write about your early school memories.” I had a love/hate relationship with school. First off, looking back, I now know that what plagued me, was anxiety. It all started in 1st grade math class with Mrs. Bianchi. She was about 100 years old (I am so not kidding…) and she called me out in front of the whole class because I used my fingers to count. And when I say called me out, I mean ridiculed… I have thought about this a lot over the years. She simply could have asked me to attempt what I was doing without using my fingers. Instead, she made…

    Friday Five!

Today’s Five, found at Friday 5! How do you feel about grapes? How do you feel about wine? How much of a gossip are you? How much purple is in your wardrobe? How have you gotten better as you’ve grown older? Bonus question: What is the best food with raisins in it? I LOVE grapes. We are going to build a large arbor in the backyard in the spring! I cannot wait to have a shit ton of grapes every year! My Nan and Pop had a massive arbor that produced the sweetest, plumpest, purple seedless grapes. The guy who bought their house tore it out. Ugh. I do not…
