Oops. This got away from me for a few days! I wasn’t feeling well and was not online much. So, here we go…

“Someone who inspires you, and why?”

There are a few who inspire me. In no particular order, I will share a couple with you.

One would be my boss. She is doing a great service to the children in our area who just aren’t cut out for public school, or for those who have been bullied, or left behind, or not challenged enough. She loves these kids. She encourages them. She pushes them. She works damned hard and she inspires me to do better not just by my own kid, but by others as well.

My mother. She is a tough ol’ bird. She has been through a lot in life and she’s never let any of it leave her bitter or angry. She is kind and compassionate and loving and so giving of herself. She is truly a selfless woman. I love her more than I could ever convey in words.

My husband. I do not even know where to start with him. He struggles so much with his mental health. It is a constant battle, that I am only just now beginning to understand how to handle.. after 20 years. He is in constant pain and I KNOW that he often wants to give up, he gets tired of fighting the pain, both physical and mental. But, he keeps going. And it is a reminder to ME that I NEED to keep going, even when I do not feel like it.

My friend Donna. I was recently thinking of all the people I know who are religious, who attend church, and read scripture, and quote scripture. But for a lot of them, that is all they do. Donna doesn’t just talk the talk. She walks the walk. I have only known one other person to be so Jesus-like, and that was the Pastor at the church we used to attend together. Donna (and her little husband) just radiate with His Spirit. It is a joy to know them both. She inspires me to be kind, always… She is a reminder to do for others and put others first, because in doing for others is where we can find real joy within ourselves. And let me tell you, I HAVE NEEDED that reminder lately.

And my kid. She inspires me every day to do better and be better. I am a very slow work in progress, but I am trying. I have been so lost for so long, and to have these sources of inspiration is a true blessing.

Until next time… xoxo

  1. Gosh. You made me get sweaty eyes. I have to say we have a really nice preacher again. HIs name is Mike Lantz. Why don’t you come and listen to him at drive in church this weekend. At Ball’s Auction parking lot. Tune to 107.1 Then, hopefully, we will be back in the building. I miss seeing you regularly. The Lord and I love you. <3

  2. Gosh, Jen. You made my eyes get sweaty. We have a new preacher now that I really like. His name is Mike Lantz. Why don’t you come and listen to him this Sunday at Drive In church at Ball’s Auction parking lot. You just sit in your car and tune to 107.1 to listen. Then, hopefully, next week we will be back in the building. Bring a jar of peanut butter or jelly to donate if you come. 🙂 We are just starting to build a little food pantry for the church to be able to serve someone who is hungry. I miss seeing you on the regular. <3
